Filco Carting's Safety Seminar

Saturday, June 9th, 2018
LaGuardia Plaza Hotel

Industry Safety Instructor, Mr. Burr

On Saturday, June 9, 2018, we conducted Filco’s first safety seminar for all of our drivers, at the LaGuardia Plaza Hotel. In attendance were some of the industry’s experts in safety, including Mr. Randall Burr, an Industry Safety Instructor, to conduct an introduction to Filco Carting's new “Safety Class” program. Mr. Burr discussed topics including Major Offenses, License Status and Changes, Operating Regulations, New Restrictions and Changes. Our drivers learned about The Smith 5 Keys System, including Collision Avoidance and various new resources of information.

The Smith System® Driver Improvement Institute was the nation’s first professional training program for drivers.  Established in 1952 by Harold Smith, it operates on the principle that most collisions are preventable if the right driving habits are learned, practiced and applied consistently.  Since then, millions of drivers throughout the world have benefited from this system.

We thank Mr. Steve Thompson, from Laborers Local Union 108, LIUNA, AFL-CIO, for attending such an important event.

Filco Carting Corp.
Safety Training Facility

To expand our commitment to the health and safety of our work force, Domenic Monopoli, Vice-President/Chief Operating Officer, has created a new Filco Carting Corp. Training Facility. Located at the company headquarters, this facility will regularly host smaller safety seminars, every couple of weeks, all year round. The smaller setting allows for team members to be more open in asking questions, and sharing information.
